General information
Prerequisite subject: Biology I
Credits: 2+2
Attendance: 75% of the lessons and practices
Exam: Moodle test in the exam period.
Biology II covering Basic Human Genetics has theoretical (GYKGEN269E2A - lecture) and laboratory (GYKGEN269G2A - practice) parts too. According to the Academic and Examination Rules (17§ 7-8.) the students must visit at least 75% of the practices. Attendance on the practices will be checked weekly. More than three absences from the practices of ANY REASON invalidate the semester, no signature is given and to sit for the exam is not allowed. There are no extra lectures and practices.
Remember the exact time of lectures and practices. Being late (10 or more minutes) from practice is considered as an absence.
In this semester you have two midterms: in the 5th (Moodle test) and 11th week (Moodle test) practice time. On midterms questions will be from practice and lecture. Absence from the midterm is considered as absence from the practice. There is no chance to improve or retake the midterm tests.
You can also collect points based on five questions asked on each lecture, adding up to a maximum of 60 points (tests on Moodle). You can achieve more than 60 points on thelectures, but for evaluation we accept maximum 60 points.
In sum, maximum 120 points are offered as midterms plus lecture points:
At the end of the semester your performance will be evaluated according to the total scores therefore maximum of 8 bonus scores are offered:

Please, find below more information about Biology II Exam.
The Biology II. exam will be organized during the exam period, the exact date will be given in the Neptun in May. The place of the exam is our practical Labs in the NET Building.
The semester is finished with a final exam, which will be a Moodle test (multiple choice, essay question, TEM and LM photos, family tree, karyogram, evaluation of molecular genetic studies, etc.) similar to midterms covering practice and lecture parts of both Biology I and Biology II. For passing (Grade 2-5), you have to reach more than 50 % of the exam scores and you have to reach 50% of scores both in Biology I and II questions. The exam questions are based on the labeled chapters of Essential Cell Biology and the Genetics and genomics e-book, lecture and practice presentations and handouts. Please, see “Exam” tab on our webpage in the examination period, for more information about the exams.
The exam days are published in the Neptun system, but the starting time may be varied and will be fixed in the Neptun the day before the exam.
